What's New for 2026: Improved Features for Every Player

Feb 26, 2026
2026 marks Upsi's 10th anniversary, and we're kicking off the season with meaningful improvements to the features you already know and use. These changes are rolling out to all apps in March. No flashy gimmicks, just smarter tools that make your rounds more enjoyable and your stats more accurate.
Handicap becomes free for everyone
As part of our anniversary celebration, we're making Upsi's handicap system available to all players at no cost. Upsi remains the only disc golf app with a built-in open handicap system, and starting in March, everyone can use it to level the playing field when playing with friends of different skill levels.
We're also making the system smarter.
Until now, a player's handicap couldn't go below zero meaning the best players weren't adjusted on easier courses. But the challenge for us was: no matter how good you are, eagle on every single hole isn't realistic, even on a course where par feels generous. The new negative handicap is an extension completing the world-first handicap system, intelligently adjusting expectations for top players based on what's actually achievable on each course. The result? Tighter, more competitive group rounds where skill level differences truly balance out. More fun from beginners to scratch players and everyone in between.
Enter putts for your whole group with Upsi Black
You've been asking for this one a lot. Until now, putt tracking was the only feature in Upsi that didn't extend to your whole group. That changes this season as Upsi Black subscribers will be able to input putt data for everyone in their group, bringing the complete Upsi experience to every player on the card. Putting stats are where the real insights live, and now your entire group gets access to them.
More accurate ratings
We've refined our rating calculation to reduce errors and improve precision. Your player rating will better reflect your actual skill level, with fewer anomalies caused by edge cases in the formula. Same rating system, just sharper and more confident.
Seasonal course difficulty
First introduced last autumn, our seasonal adjustment model factors in time of year when calculating course difficulty. Playing a familiar course in February with snow on the ground is a very different challenge than a sunny July round and your scores will reflect that. The model continues to improve heading into 2026, delivering even more accurate results as conditions change through the seasons.
This and much more this season!
