Upsi Rating: Faster to Earn, More Stable Than Ever

Feb 28, 2026
We recently shared what's new for 2026 and we promised sharper ratings. Here's what that actually means.
During the off-season, we studied over 1,000,000 rounds played on Upsi to find ways to make the rating system better. The result: two significant improvements rolling out starting tomorrow morning March 1st.
Get your rating sooner
Until now, every player needed 10 qualifying rounds before receiving their first Upsi Rating. After analyzing how ratings form across different player profiles, we found a way to confidently produce ratings after just 6 rounds for 88% of players. The remaining 12% still receive their rating by 10 rounds, exactly as before. No one waits longer. Most just wait less.
This means new players and those returning after a break will see their rating appear earlier in the season, giving you a meaningful skill benchmark sooner.
Dramatically more stable calculations
Starting March 1st, we're also deploying a reworked calculation pipeline that resolves 99.3% of previously occurring calculation errors. Even the small number of players that ever noticed rating not being updated, this is the fix. The new system produces results consistently update after update.
Better in every way
What we're most proud of is that these improvements don't come at the cost of quality. The faster initial rating is not a rough estimate that gets corrected later but the same high-quality rating, just available sooner. And the stability improvements make the entire system more reliable for every rated player.
The Upsi Rating remains free for all players and continues to update daily. Learn more about how it works at upsiapp.com/rating.
