First 500 000 Putts Tracked - What the stats say

May 2, 2025

It’s official: Upsi players have now recorded over half a million putts! In just one year since launching our putting feature, the Upsi community has embraced the challenge, the data, and the drive to improve.

A Year of Smarter Putting

Launched only a year ago in Spring 2024, Upsi’s putting feature was designed to bring depth and insight to the most decisive part of the game. Since then, ability to track putting has become a key part of the app experience for thousands of players. In just 12 months, Upsi users have logged over 500,000 putts - that is 1,370 putts each and every single day of the year!

What the Numbers Show

Looking at the global stats gives us a snapshot of the community putting performance:

  • CX (<3m, <10 ft): 99% success, no surprises here! 🤩

  • CX1 (3–10m, 10-33 ft): 65.8%

  • C2 (10–20m, 33-66 ft): 10.2%

  • And beyond 20 meters or 66 feet? An impressive 1,425 throw-ins have been recorded!

Why Putting Stats Matter

Everyone knows it: while drives may wow the crowd, it’s the putts that make the score. Putting might be the smallest motion in the game, but it often carries the most weight. Tracking your putts helps you spot patterns, measure progress, and build confidence when it counts most.

Take Circle 1 performance, for example. Is it smarter to run a tough C2 putt that might leave you in C1X or lay up for a stress-free tap-in from CX? The answer depends on your stats.

Analysing the first 500,000 putts, players on average miss a C1X putt about 34.2% of the time. Over 18 holes, assuming each miss lands back in C1X, that adds up to 9 additional throws to your score. Now imagine improving your C1X success by just 10 percentage points. That would immediately save four strokes. It’s hard to find another part of the game where a single improvement yields such a big return.

Whether you're a weekend casual or a competitive grinder, understanding your putting stats doesn’t just inform your decisions, it transforms your game.
