The summer the world came to Finland

As the 2026 PDGA Professional World Championships tee off this week in Michigan, we're looking back one year — to when disc golf's biggest title was decided on home soil.

This week, the best disc golfers on the planet gather at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Michigan, for the 2026 PDGA Professional World Championships. Five days, two courses — the Toboggan and Black Locust — and the one title every professional spends a career chasing.

We'll be following every round. But before the first drive lands in Michigan, we wanted to sit with a memory from a summer we won't forget.

Last July, Worlds came to Finland.

For the first time in the championship's history, the PDGA Professional World Championships were held outside North America — not in some distant disc golf capital, but here, on courses many of us have walked a hundred times. The Beast at Nokia Disc Golf Park and the Monster at Tampere Disc Golf Center took on 287 of the world's best players, all chasing the same prize. Finnish players were in the field, which meant home galleries finally had someone of their own to roar for.

If you were there, you already know the feeling. The crowds packed shoulder to shoulder in the woods. The roar that rolled through the trees after a long putt dropped. Kids in the gallery watching their heroes tee off a short drive from home. For a week, the whole disc golf world looked at Finland — and Finland showed up.

When it was over, Gannon Buhr was crowned MPO world champion and Ohn Scoggins the FPO, both lifting their trophies on Finnish grass.

Being one of the sponsors behind a home Worlds is something we still find hard to put into words. Disc golf gave us a community long before it gave us a company, and getting to stand behind the sport's biggest stage — in our own backyard — meant more than we can properly say here.

This week, the title travels back across the ocean, and a new group of players will write the next chapter in Michigan. To everyone teeing off — good luck, play well, and give us something to remember.
