What is handicap?
With the handicap system each player in the group plays against their own level on that specific layout. That means a fair, competitive, exciting round whether you’re new to the game or chasing a pro-level rating.
"It's a lot of fun! I lost to a friend in his sixties when we were playing handicap. A lot of guys have said it's a good addition when you play in a group with different skills."

Free for every player
Handicap launched as an Upsi Black feature. In 2026 we opened it up: every Upsi player now has a handicap, with no subscription and nothing to unlock. A handicap only works when everyone on the card has one.

Powered by Upsi's unique Ratings
Upsi uses your personal rating to calculate your handicap. Your rating reflects your skill and forms after ten rounds on a layout with a difficulty level, updating daily. Playing with handicap doesn’t change how your rating is calculated — the round counts towards it exactly like any other.
